Bio: Nicolas never knew his father. He died in Iraq before he was born. He was raised for the first six years of his life by his mother before a tragic bout with breast cancer claimed her life. Shortly thereafter he moved in with his birth father's sister Alyssa. This was perhaps the most stable and loving time in his life until a car accident with a drunk driver killed Alyssa when Nicolas was 13. he only ones left to care for the young boy was his father's parents who lived in downtown Detroit.
Nicolas started walking the streets with the wrong sort of crowd, learning to fight, and learning to steal. He stole his first car when he was 14 and by age 15, he could throw down with the bigger kids and had a frightening affinity for blades. Knife fighting and throwing were his specialties. He was also gifted for finding ways in and out of places, depending on the circumstances, including handcuffs, police cars, rope binds, the like. He'd also become known as quite the escape artist.
In the summer of 2020, Detroit exploded into riots following the playoffs that year after a heated rivalry in the finals ended in defeat for the Pistons. While Nicolas was out raising hell, a gang torched his grandparents' apartment building. The grandparents never made it out. Caught by the police, Nicolas was placed in the State of Michigan's foster care program. He was moved from home to home until about a six months later, he ran away from his foster home in Saginaw and returned to Detroit.
He killed his first man at age 16, knifing him down in an alleyway. He was a gang leader believed to be responsible for the fire that killed Nicolas' grandparents. Naturally, the gang leader's gang put chase to Nicolas rather quickly. A man named Lucian DeVeronese saved his life, claiming to be a friend of his mother's. He gave him the choice of getting his life straight or being turned back over to the thugs. Lucian brought him to the MI7 Academy and enrolled him. Lucian keeps a special eye on Nicolas and serves as the kid's mentor.
Nicolas has been at the Academy for over a year now. Still, not Nicolas, nor the dean, nor Krista, nor Charlotte, nor anyone save for Lucian and maybe Sean Blaylock, know the reason behind the special attention and why Nicolas was rescued from a grim future in Detroit in the first place.
While streetwise and bold, Nicolas has shown little academic promise since arriving at the Academy, which embaresses him. All the other students his age are doing Calculus while he struggles with Algebra. He also tends to be quiet and reserved around new people. He often spends his time studying those around him and sizing things up before he speaks a word, so he's somewhat percieved as a bit shy. He's an extremely tolerant person, but as one student found out, once he's pushed and pushed and pushed, there's a certain point where he strikes back hard and fast and out of nowhere. He's only been reprimanded once for fighting, but has never been caught sneaking off campus, sometimes being as bold as stealing a staff members' car to do it.
