There are times in life when minutes will pass by slowly. Times when you're sitting at work just staring at the clock and each clicking second seems like an eternity. These are times taken for granted as lives are wished away. In the same respect, there are times when months fly by like moments. Glancing at a calender a gasp will escape before you realize it at the date. How could that much time have possibly passed?
The question rested in Lily's mind when old Christmas carols echoed through the city streets air. They were all in French but the memories associated with them still rung true. She stopped dead in the street, glancing around. Was it December? It seemed like not long ago it was June with the sun kissing tanned bodies. As she looked around, though, Lily noticed all of the bodies now bundled in their jackets, scarves, hats. People walked a little closer, the wintery air taking their freedom away. How could have so much time passed by without her realizing it?
Lily Hauser had been officially MIA from the Mi7 for three months. An extensive search was conducted with no results. The cloak that was placed around her existance was a massive one. The only person she even attempted to let know she was alive at first was Rose. Flowers would be delivered randomly from the areas she was at--native flowers. After awhile, though, those began to be intercepted and the communication stopped. In mid October a body was found and identified as Lily Hauser. A simple memorial service was held for the friends and family. Her mother had sobbed, clutching Rose tightly to her, the last words between the two violent and angry.
Lily knew nothing of the event, though, simple doing as she was told. The Hunter had trained her well, the only sign of her a trail of dead Euro MI agents. Why they had to die she never asked--as long as the cash was her hand at the end of the day she never asked. It didn't matter.
Now, in the middle of the street, she found herself humming along with "all I want for christmas" memories of school dances and stolen mistletoe kisses in her mind. A loud honking of a horn brought her back to reality, though, and she remember...Yesterday's gone. Far gone. And there was no going back.
